Call Center Intake
After thorough training, Call Center Interns conduct telephone screenings, assessment, and resource referrals for clients seeking assistance through the regional Call Center. Interns manage shelter and transitional housing waiting lists, arrange emergency overnight shelter, and connect callers with appropriate resources, while documenting all contacts. (Norfolk)
Case Management Interns work with our case managers on a variety of case management responsibilities, including client intake, home visits, job search assistance, file documentation, research, and client transportation. (Norfolk, Suffolk & Chesapeake)
Employment Services Interns work with our Job Coaches to assist our clients with gaining employment, through resume development, job search, interview preparation and transportation. (Norfolk, Suffolk & Chesapeake)
Education Interns work with our Education Team in support of ForKids’ educational programs. Interns will provide tutoring, transportation, lesson plan development, activity planning, and research into community resources. These internships require evening hours (generally, M-Th 4-8 p.m.) and a clean driving record. Internships are available in Norfolk, Chesapeake and Suffolk.
Development interns assist with promoting and executing special events, communicating the ForKids’ mission to potential donors, data entry/analysis in relationship to donors and volunteers and activities that lead to solicitations. These internships will require occasional evening or weekend hours, and are located in ForKids’ Norfolk offices.
Volunteer & Special Events Management
Volunteer and special events interns work with our volunteer coordination staff on volunteer engagement, recruitment and recognition. Interns will assist with volunteer inquiries, volunteer groups, recruitment opportunities and data tracking. These internships will require availability during normal business hours and weekends (Norfolk and Good Mojo Thrift Store).
