Story Slam, fashioned after NPR’s “The Moth Hour”, features community members of Hampton Roads telling personal stories and fiercely competing for the Slammy award. This electric evening full of eclectic entertainment is unlike any fundraising event in Hampton Roads and has sold out the past couple years!
For two weeks after the Slam, you can Click, View, N’ Vote for your favorite story slammer(s) right here online. One dollar equals one vote, and all votes will be donated to help ForKids break the cycle of homelessness and poverty for families and children.
2016 Story Slam Recap
On February 13, 2016 ForKids held its 5th Annual Story Slam, a ForKids fundraiser fashioned after NPR’s “The Moth Hour”. Story Slam featured twelve carefully selected individuals: Jesse Wareing, Vickie Bright, Mike Easmeil, Becky Peterson, Lee & Harry Cross, Ronald Young, Tenacious Vee, WooWoo, Esmere Litz, Robert Ciara, and Ayden “Absolut” Petrone who all had incredible stories to share about who their heroes were. After the event, videos of each slammer were posted online and the community had two weeks to vote for their favorite “Slammer”.
