Volunteer Reports to: Education Advocate Summary: The volunteer tutor will assist in the operation of ForKids’ Beyond the Bell (formerly Hot Meals and Homework) program by assisting children with their daily homework, reviewing completed work, assisting with small group instruction, and other essential duties as requested by the Education Advocate or Instructional Assistant. Essential Duties: ‐ Assisting students with homework ‐ Assisting Education Advocate or Instructional Assistant with group lessons ‐ Monitoring students’ computer usage ‐ Other essential duties as requested Requirements: ‐ Must complete and pass an online criminal background check through Verified Volunteers (invitation sent via email upon completion of volunteer application) ‐ Present a casual‐professional appearance and a friendly demeanor ‐ Be punctual and attend dates as scheduled, or notify Education Advocate in advance of any changes ‐ Respect and maintain the boundaries and confidentiality requirements as instructed in orientation ‐ Tutoring or education experience desired, but not mandatory Training & Supervision: ‐ Attend volunteer orientation ‐ Invited, but not required, to participate in other trainings after orientation and background check are completed ‐ On‐site training & supervision conducted by either Education Advocate, Instructional Assistant, or experienced volunteer Time Commitment: ‐ Minimum one day (~2 hours) per week, from start date until end of December or start date until mid‐June (entire semester)
