ForKids Announces Appointment of Six New Board Members

NORFOLK, Va. – ForKids announces the appointment of six new members to its FY19 Board of Directors. The newly elected Board members are Teresa Blevins, Roland Davis, Paul Gibney, Nita Jain, Jennifer Pfitzner and Cline Reasor.

ForKids CEO Thaler McCormick announced, “I am pleased to welcome our newest members to the ForKids Board of Directors. These six men and women, with their unique backgrounds and diverse experience, are committed to our mission to end the cycle of homelessness and poverty for children and families. They will be an asset to the Board and the organization as a whole.”

Terry Blevins retired in 2017 as CFO for Landmark Media Enterprises, LLC. Along with her financial oversight, she was also responsible for the strategic planning process of the company and played a primary role in the 2008 sale of The Weather Channel.  Prior to her promotion to CFO in 2006, Terry held the position of Vice President of Finance and Ad Operations for The Weather Channel Interactive. Terry’s other roles at Landmark included: General Manager of Norfolk’s naval military newspaper, The Flagship; Controller of Norfolk’s daily newspaper, The Virginian Pilot; and Director of Financial Analysis for TeleCable, a national cable operation that was sold in 1995. Earlier in her career, Terry held roles in manufacturing finance at Springs Industries (textiles) and GE Plastics and governmental finance at the Department of Defense. Ms. Blevins earned her B.S. and M.S. in accounting at Virginia Tech. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a frequent presenter and instructor for the Virginia Society of CPA’s. She has served on several boards and committees including the United Way and Virginia Tech.

Roland Davis, former Chesapeake City Council member, is the President and Owner of Davis Business Appraisers, Inc. in Chesapeake. He is a former Division President with Landmark Communications, CEO of Executive Productivity Systems, Inc. and Vistage Chair. Roland was on the corporate staff of Landmark Communications, Inc. when he founded Executive Productivity Systems (EPS), Inc. as a subsidiary of Landmark. In 1990 Roland purchased EPS from Landmark and transformed it from a hardware dealer to a software developer. Roland is deeply involved in his Chesapeake community where he was honored as 2013 First Citizen of Chesapeake and served as President of Chesapeake Rotary Club. He was chairman and creator of Virginia Wine Festival and has served on many boards, including Boys and Girls Clubs of Chesapeake, Chesapeake Regional Medical Center Foundation and Chesapeake Division Hampton Roads Chamber. Roland attended West Virginia University where he received his BS.

Paul Gibney, MD is a Board certified Emergency Physician, who since 2013 has been a Medical Director for the Anthem Virginia Healthkeepers Medicaid program. His undergraduate degree was in Marine Engineering and he spent several years working in the marine transportation industry before entering medicine. Additionally Paul and his wife Lucy founded Lucy’s, the nationally recognized food brand and manufacturing business. Paul grew up on Staten Island, New York with parents who were active in politics and the regional economy. He recognizes the power in providing a way out of poverty for children and their families.

Nita Jain is a vegan chef and runs, a health and wellness blog. She graduated with honors from Punjab University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and also received certification in plant-based nutrition from Cornell University. Nita is a member of the Community Leadership Partners, volunteers for Norfolk Academy, and guides a donor-advised family fund through the Hampton Roads Community Foundation. She lives in Virginia Beach.

 Jennifer Pfitzner, CPA is a partner with the accounting firm Saunders, Matthews & Pfitzner, PLLC. She is a graduate of Maury High School, earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Randolph-Macon College, an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University, and is a 2016 graduate of the CIVIC Leadership Institute. She is an Inside Business 2017 “Women in Business” honoree and represented the firm when it was recognized as the 2015 “Small Business of the Year – Norfolk” by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Pfitzner will serve as Board Treasurer, a position most recently held for over two decades by her father Charles T. Saunders.

Cline Reasor has more than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, providing custom financial guidance for families and institutions as a part of The Dille-Reasor Group of BB&T Scott & Stringfellow. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the United States Naval Academy. Cline has been named to the Hampton Roads Top 40 Under 40 and is a 2015 graduate of the Chamber’s LEAD Hampton Roads leadership development program. He serves on the Finance Committee of ForKids and is the Treasurer and an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk.
