Our Regional Housing Crisis Hotline is the central point of contact for all persons experiencing a housing crisis throughout Greater Hampton Roads.
Our Regional Housing Crisis Hotline is the first point of entry to ForKids, as well as hundreds of public and privately funded resources in 14 jurisdictions. Through the Hotline, we have been entrusted to connect anyone in crisis to our community’s extended network of resources for assistance and to prevent them from falling into homelessness whenever possible. The Hotline also allows us to collect an enormous amount of data about the homeless population in our region; armed with more knowledge about their specific needs, we are now better equipped to help move these families towards stability.
During the period of July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018, the ForKids Regional Housing Crisis Hotline received a total of over 45,000 calls from nearly 24,000 households, 30% of whom were requesting emergency shelter because they had nowhere else to go.
